For researchers

Biobank Graz is a central service institution of the Medical University of Graz that supports biomedical research by collecting, processing and storing high-quality biological specimens and associated data. Biobank Graz works closely with academic and industrial research partners while building up specific cohorts, operating basic collections and making the specimens along with associated anonymized/pseudonymized data available for research projects.

Specimen collections

Biobank Graz at the Medical University of Graz supports biobanking projects at the University Hospital Graz. Additionally, Biobank Graz stores tissue samples (FFPE-blocks and sections) of the Diagnostic & Research Institute of Pathology. To provide a better overview, the Biobank Graz team has classified ongoing as well as complete specimen collections according to their cohort below.

In vitro experiments in different cell systems can reduce and replace animal testing. In any case, in vitro testing provides the basis for animal testing in line with the 3R principle. CellBank Graz supplies researchers with human and animal cell lines that comply with a high quality standard.
